[Image taken 25.11.21] Eccles Close, junction with Manor Lane, York. This is a raised table. It is good practice. It is what road engineers include in an 'entry treatment'. People turning off or onto the main road move onto and over a slightly raised area. It slows speeds but the angle is sinusoidal ie smooth. It does not present a problem for most people on a cycle. However, the point of the provision is to enable people on cycles, foot, and in wheelchairs to cross the sideroad safely (as the road users have to moderate their speed) and without going down - to road level - then up again. All of which takes humans effort. Context: #176160, #176161. Other nearby images today: #176158 and links.
